EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

MONTHS/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:  Five (5) years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization; or two (2) years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and (3) years of experience in the assigned specialty area; as a technician in maintenance and repair of radio frequency (RF), High Powered Amplifiers equipment operating in the 10 kHz to 45 GHz range.  Experience in the maintenance and repair of Tubes, Cavities, and Magnetrons.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  U.S. Citizen. Valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain and retain a security clearance. Strong management/leadership skill set with the ability to work independently and interact with multiple organizations and activities in a fast paced environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with the government customer, vendors, and management. Strong computer skills with MS Office applications. Ability to work around and with high power RF and high voltage equipment.  Work a flexible schedule to support testing to include: overtime on short notice, nights, weekends, and limited shift work.  Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. 

 

DUTIES: Support the test and evaluation mission of the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Test Division.  Integrate, install, repair, service and upgrade High Powered Amplifiers. The technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or engineer outlines objectives and requirements. Will train and be assisted by lower level technicians.  Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.  Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Associates degree or higher in electronics or engineering.  Experience using network analyzers, CW, AM, FM and PM RF sources, spectrum analyzers, and antennas used in EMI testing. Experience in troubleshooting and repair of high voltage power supplies and microwave equipment. Welding, Machining/ Fabrication, Forklift, Explosive Certification, and/or CDL experience is a plus
